Out with old, in with the new...or maybe not?
Its 2024 and the year to live more and make do with less…
With every year, season and time comes something new and no less a new fashion, trend or fad.
How do we keep up to date when we are striving for minimalism, to buy less, to have less and to leave a smaller footprint on the planet?
This month I am going get harsh on clearing my wardrobe of all the clutter of days already lived and not likely to appear again anytime soon based on my previous year’s attempts…and of course reality!
All the gorgeous clothes of days gone by that I have yearned to adorn once again only leave me feeling sad and with a longing of the “used to be.”
The beautiful frocks which adorned me along with the fresh confidence that I had for looking “not too bad” in nice clothes. The beautiful labels, the investment in classic designs, only the colours of winter and along with a shit ton of money spent, well spent.
These were the days – everything that my old wardrobe represents – these were the days that I lived my life on purpose, with passion, with a home full of noise, laughter and time of contented quiet. The time that I strived to give my family a good life whilst doing what I loved.
The colour of my wardrobe may be mainly black but to me they are many – not colours you would expect to see but the colour of days well spent, of wonderful events created by exciting ideas and designed to make people feel good. The colours of celebration and the colours of ambition. The colours of seeing others achieve.
Perhaps it’s time to say goodbye and embrace everything that I am becoming, older, not sure about wiser, but maybe a little softer on the edges with expression lines etched into a face that may have seen better days yet is blessed to continue to see more.
But hey - as I reminisce about those days, the memories once again become vivid and I am tempted to keep just a couple of things – you never know – this may be the year to take a little bit of the old me, add it to the new and become something better than I ever imagined!
